Daytrip to the coast, part 3 - Newport's Working Port


Yesterday I pointed out that you can buy live crab in Newport.


Of course you can buy all kinds of seafood from the bayfront, but there's one particular vendor that's fun to buy from - the Chelsea Rose.

Anyone can walk down the ramp to the dock and buy fresh live crab right off the boat.
How cool is that?


Being a working seaport, the marina is filled with fishing vessels of all kinds, some private, some commercial.


 And across the Yaquina Bay from the Bayfront, is the Hatfield Marine Center and the NOAA. Look at how the NOAA ship dwarfs the fishing boat speeding past.


From here, we decided to head north toward Lincoln City to see what else looked interesting. The plan was to have no plan. Check back tomorrow to see where we ended up!
